Darshan Kumar, who played the role of Krishna Pandit in The Kashmir Files, had such a profound effect on his mind that he used to get into depression and grumble alone. He used to get up from sleep at night and sit. From signing the film to shooting it, Darshan's journey has been very painful, on which he has a special conversation with Dainik Bhaskar-
The film was offered by showing the videos of the victims-
I got a call from casting director Taran Bajaj that Vivek Ranjan wanted to give me the lead role in the film. I met Vivek and Pallavi ji. He showed me a video of about an hour, which he made videos of the victims traveling around the country and the world. I was stunned to see him, I could not say anything. He said that I can understand your condition. Do one thing, you take the script and take a decision after reading it. Whatever things and pain people have expressed in the script, those things have been kept in the dialogue. That was my main reason for doing this film.
was shocked to see the video
As soon as the video started, I started crying after seeing the very first scene. Many families were telling about themselves. At one place, the husband was killed and the blood-stained rice was fed to his wife, who was shocked to see.
I couldn't sleep for many nights
From reading the script to doing the film, it was a two-month journey. I could not sleep at all the night I saw the video. I had read the script too. From there till doing the film, I do not remember that I was able to sleep properly on any night. Many a times it happened that I started murmuring to myself. I thought I was going into depression. I used to get irritated over small things. He could tell anyone anything.
It took two months to leave the character
To overcome this, I resorted to meditation. Went to a secluded place after taking two weeks off. Gaya in Dharamshala, Himachal Pradesh. Stayed there for several days with the hotel. Interacted with people so that I could come out of these things. He used to meditate there for hours and hours a day. I used to try to see some good and different subjects, in which I should be engaged and not think about many things.
Ok climax scene in one take
When I got to read the script for the first time, I was very excited and even more nervous about the scene. Director Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri had said that he would shoot the scene in patches, as there was a 13-page scene and a 13-page monologue would not be able to be spoken simultaneously. It was the climax scene, I told Vivek sir that I will try to do it in one take. I researched every single thing, because I felt that unless I am confident, I will not be able to reach the audience.
