Naveen succumbed to war in Ukraine: Father Shekharappa said - My son has lost his life, now get his body soon

Naveen, an Indian medical student, died on Tuesday amid shelling in Ukraine, fighting Russia. Now Naveen's father Shekharappa has demanded from PM Modi and CM Bommai to bring his son's body to the country as soon as possible. 21-year-old Naveen, a 4th year student at Kharkiv National Medical University, was killed in Russian firing on Tuesday. According to friends, he had gone to get food.

Naveen's father said - finally my son is gone

Shekharappa told in an interview- "A day ago at 10 in the morning Naveen got a call that he would call after having breakfast. After that we did not talk. We called him several times in the morning but his phone kept ringing but did not pick up. At 4 pm, we got a call from the Ministry of External Affairs and again at 4:30 pm from PM Modi and got the news of the son from him. I have requested everyone to bring my son's body back at the earliest."

The Ministry of External Affairs has assured to bring Naveen's body to India in two days.

Naveen used to talk to his father on the phone several times a day. In the midst of the possibility of war, he told that the students had requested the university to declare holidays so that they could all plan to return to the country. But the university rejected his appeal and said that there would be no war. So they were forcibly stopped. They also had limited food and water. Our children were 2000 km away from the border, we spoke at the embassy. Parents were also trying on their behalf, but nothing happened and I lost my son.

Questions have also been raised on the country's medical education system.

According to Naveen's father, Naveen had scored 97% in the Pre-University Course (PUC). Despite this, he could not get a medical seat in the state. Crores of rupees have to be paid to get a seat. That's why students are getting the same education abroad by spending less money.

The Foreign Secretary said that Naveen's dead body has been kept in the mortuary of the Medical University.

Naveen's friend told what happened

Amit Vaish, who is studying with Naveen in the university, told that the group of students left on Monday, but Naveen said that they wait a little, so that they can take the juniors also. Naveen said that it has been a very short time since he came to Ukraine. They were all about to leave Kharkiv on Wednesday morning. When he went to get food on Tuesday, he died.

Ukrainian picked up the phone and told that Naveen is no more

Amit further said that whenever the curfew was lifted, he used to go to buy goods. On Tuesday, Naveen left for food only at 6 in the morning. The market was only 50 meters away from the bunker. At 7.58 he sent a message that he was running short of money. After this, when Amit called on his phone at 8.10 pm, he did not pick up at first, after which a Ukrainian answered the call and said that he is no more.
