Photojournalist Danish Siddiqui murder case: Family will go to International Criminal Court against Taliban, died in Afghan war

The family of Pulitzer Prize winning Indian photojournalist Danish Siddiqui will go to the International Criminal Court (ICJ) against the Taliban. Danish died last year during coverage of the Afghanistan war. At that time Danish was working for the news agency Reuters in Kandahar. There was a war going on between the Afghan Security Forces and the Taliban.

Media reports claimed that Danish was brutally killed by the Taliban. There were many wounds on his body. Siddiqui was alive when the Taliban captured him. The Taliban also confirmed Siddiqui's identity. It is alleged that Taliban terrorists took Danish and his associates and later brutally killed them.


Taliban refuses to 'kill'

The Taliban, on the other hand, denied Danish's killing. Taliban said- This photojournalist died during cross firing. Danish had not taken approval for coverage from him. We had said many times that if journalists come here, first take our approval. We give them security.

Danish was a resident of Delhi

Pulitzer Award winner Danish, 38, was a resident of Delhi. He did his graduation in Economics from Jamia Millia Islamia, Delhi. After this, he studied journalism from here in 2007. The family consists of wife and two children. He joined Reuters in 2010.


Received Pulitzer Prize in 2018

In 2018, a Reuters team won the Pulitzer Prize for photography on the Rohingya refugee problem. Siddiqui was also included in this team. He had also covered the Delhi riots.
