1. What does UP's poll of polls say, 3 out of 4 proved correct
In UP's 9 exit polls, Yogi has been given a clear majority. According to them, BJP is expected to get 250 seats and SP will be reduced to 135. It is also important to know that what happened to the 4 exit polls that came in the last 20 years.
In 2002, out of 3 exit polls, SP was declared the single largest party in 2 and BJP in one. The guesses for the SP turned out to be almost correct. It got 143 seats in the election. But, BJP came down from 100 to 88. The second party was the BSP, which got 98 seats.
In 2007, the exit polls were saying that there would be a hung assembly. No party was given more than 135 seats, but the results were quite the opposite. Mayawati's BSP got a clear mandate with 206 seats. SP (97) was at number two and BJP (51) at number three.
In 2012, the polls were saying that Mayawati would lose power. It happened exactly the same. SP formed the government by winning 224. BSP won 80 seats. The BJP, which came third, got 47 seats.
In 2017, 4 out of 6 exit polls gave a majority to the BJP. There was talk of seats up to 200. These polls proved to be right in some ways and wrong in some ways. The government was formed by the BJP but the seats came far more than expected i.e. 312.
2. The fire brand Yogi shone in the Modi wave in 2017
In 2017, the BJP got a majority due to the Modi wave. Yogi won 312 seats. This was the second biggest victory in the electoral history of Uttar Pradesh. The BJP got 77.41% of the 403 seats. In the 1977 assembly elections in undivided Uttar Pradesh, the Janata Dal had won 352 seats. Then the size of the assembly was 425 seats and the Janata Dal got 82.82% of these seats. The third biggest victory in UP is in the name of Congress, when in 1980 it won 309 seats out of 425, i.e. 72.70% seats.
3. Last time the highest voting took place, the lowest was 42 years ago
This time 60.31% voting has taken place in the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections. In 2017, this figure was 61.28% i.e. this time about one percent votes are less. 59.5% of the votes were cast in 2012. If we look at the voting history of UP in the last 11 elections, the highest turnout was in 2017 itself. The voting of 2022 is at number two. Talking about the lowest voting, the figure of 44.9% in 1980 is at the bottom. After this the lowest 45.6% votes were cast in 1985.
