Independent MP from Amravati, Navneet Rana, who was arrested on charges of sedition, had alleged that after his arrest, he was not given water for the whole night. He had also said that he was not allowed to use the washroom overnight because he was a Scheduled Caste. However, on Tuesday, the Mumbai Police Commissioner released a video calling this allegation false.
Commissioner Sanjay Pandey has claimed on the basis of the video that the Rana couple were sitting comfortably in the police station after their arrest. He was also offered tea. After the video of the Mumbai Police Commissioner, Rizwan Merchant, the lawyer of MP Navneet Kaur, issued a statement saying that the police commissioner is lying. The video he released is said to be of Khar police station, but he was kept at Santacruz police station all night. During this neither they were given water, nor were they allowed to go to the bathroom. The important recording is that of Santacruz Police Station, which should be issued by the Commissioner of Police, Mumbai.
Hearing on bail application will now be held on April 29
In the case of sedition registered against the Rana couple, the hearing will now be held in the MP / MLA Court on April 29. Both have filed a petition seeking dismissal of the sedition petition and seeking bail. Navneet Rana's lawyer Rizwan Merchant said- There were many pending cases with the court today, after which on his request, we have agreed that the bail application will be heard on April 29.
