The Meteorological Department has said that there is a possibility of heavy rains in 25 states including Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Punjab, Haryana, Telangana. In Maharashtra, 76 people have lost their lives due to rain and floods since June 1. In the last 24 hours only 9 people have died. Orange alert has been issued in 4 districts including Ratnagiri of Maharashtra and Yellow rain in 8 districts.
Two people died in Assam after being washed away by flood waters. A rain alert has also been issued in Rajasthan for the next two days. At the same time, in Punjab, the state government has suspended 4 officials for road construction amid the rains. However, the monsoon has not fully arrived in many areas of Bihar, Jharkhand, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh.
