Aam Aadmi Party MP Sanjay Singh was suspended from Rajya Sabha on Wednesday. He is accused of throwing a paper on the chair's podium while raising slogans in the House on Tuesday. On Wednesday, Deputy Chairman of Rajya Sabha Harivansh Narayan Singh announced the suspension of Sanjay Singh for the remainder of this week's proceedings. Suspension action has been taken against 20 Rajya Sabha MPs and 4 Lok Sabha MPs who created ruckus in the monsoon session this week.
All the 20 MPs who have been suspended from the Rajya Sabha have decided to stage a sit-in near the Gandhi statue in Parliament. All these MPs will protest their suspension by holding a sit-in for 50 hours.

Announcing the suspension of the AAP leader, Rajya Sabha Deputy Chairman Harivansh Narayan Singh said that he threw paper on the chair during the proceedings of the House on Tuesday. Singh's suspension was followed by a motion by V. Muraleedharan, junior minister for parliamentary affairs, for "misconduct" and "absolute disregard for the authority of the House and the bench". This motion was made by voice vote. The monsoon session of Parliament began on July 18 and will continue till August 12. There will be 18 sittings during the session.

So far this week, 20 Rajya Sabha MPs have been suspended in the current monsoon session. On Wednesday, Sanjay Singh was suspended, before on Tuesday 19 MPs were suspended for a week. On Tuesday, the opposition created a ruckus on GST and inflation. Due to the uproar, the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha had to be adjourned first for an hour and then for the day.
