First of all let's go to Kakori…On the Lucknow-Hardoi highway, about 11 km from Lucknow, one can see the Kakori Shaheed Memorial Garden, which is adjacent to the road. Ticket house is written in red color next to the gate, but the ticket window is closed. The gatekeeper says, “Kahan bhaiya hiyan ticket-vikat.”
On the right wall of the gate are inscriptions bearing the names of Mayawati, Mulayam Singh Yadav on the left and Yogi Adityanath on the back side. On 21 May 2003, the then PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee had laid the foundation stone for it in the presence of CM Mayawati. It was launched on 23 August 2004 by the then UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav.
The tower is visible upon entering. Just below it is the Amar Shaheed Jyoti, but it probably remains extinguished. In front is the garden assistant's room, but there are no assistants. The gatekeeper says, “Sahayak ji didn’t come today, but the dangling webs in the room say that even this door has not been opened for months.”
In the park, 20-22 young boys and girls are talking about something by making a circle. One of these Amit says, “We run NGOs. No one comes and goes in this park, so they do meetings here. There is nothing here, you go 3 km further to Bajnagar, there everything is there.”
Kakori Shaheed Smriti Udyan was inaugurated on 23 August 2004 by the then UP CM Mulayam Singh Yadav.
