Enforcement Directorate (ED) finds hawala link in National Herald case. ED will now re-examine the statements of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. The reports quoted ED sources as claiming that evidence of hawala transactions was found between National Herald, its affiliated companies and third parties.
How did ED get the hawala link?
During the investigation of Young India's office in Delhi's Herald Building, the ED has found some documents. Evidence of transactions of hawala operators in Mumbai and Kolkata has been found in the documents.
What action will ED take now?
According to sources, after the completion of the investigation of Young India's office, the investigating agency will take major action. What will this action be, the sources have not yet clearly told.

Why re-examine the statements of Rahul-Sonia?
During interrogation, Sonia and Rahul Gandhi had said that they did not take any cash-related benefit from Young India. After the documents received from Young India, the ED is not satisfied with the answers of both, so these statements will be re-examined.

Raid on 16 locations on Tuesday, office sealed on Wednesday
The ED team had raided 16 locations of National Herald including Delhi, Mumbai and Kolkata from early morning till late evening on Tuesday. This action was taken after questioning Sonia and Rahul. On Wednesday, the ED sealed the office of Young India Company located in Delhi's Herald Building. After this Congress leader Rahul Gandhi left his Karnataka tour and returned to Delhi.

More than 100 questions were asked from Sonia in the National Herald case
In the National Herald case, Sonia Gandhi was questioned for 12 hours in 3 days. The ED questioned for 3 hours on 21 July, 6 hours on 26 July and 3 hours on 27 August. During this more than 100 questions were asked from him. The ED had also questioned Rahul Gandhi for more than 50 hours in five days in June.
