You must have seen the incident of mobile theft at some point of time on the train, bus and railway station. Many people's mobiles must have been stolen too. Every year there are different figures regarding the incident of mobile theft. Take a look at this-

According to the Norton Mobile Theft Survey, 53% of Indians' mobile phones were stolen between 2006-2010.

Between January 1, 2022 and June 28, 2022, 4 thousand 660 phone snatching cases were reported in Delhi.

In the year 2021, about 48 thousand 856 stolen mobile phones were not detected in Mumbai.

Data from the City Crime Records Bureau says that 2.43 lakh mobile phones were lost or stolen in Bengaluru in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.

Delhi Police is now thinking of aligning with Internet Service Providers and Telecommunications Department to check the increasing cases of mobile thefts. This will be done using the device's IMEI i.e. International Mobile Equipment Identity Number.

Question- What is IMEI number?

Answer- IMEI is a unique number. This is the identity certificate of the mobile. It cannot be changed. Whenever you buy a new mobile, check its box and the 15 digit IMEI number written in the device and make a note of it somewhere.

Answer- It is used for these 3 things-

Used to identify the device on the mobile network.

This number is used to verify the identity of your device when you use the Internet or make calls.

Used to check location when mobile is stolen.

Answer- If you have two sim, then your IMEI number will also be different i.e. two.
