According to the Norton Mobile Theft Survey, 53% of Indians' mobile phones were stolen between 2006-2010.
Between January 1, 2022 and June 28, 2022, 4 thousand 660 phone snatching cases were reported in Delhi.

Data from the City Crime Records Bureau says that 2.43 lakh mobile phones were lost or stolen in Bengaluru in the years 2017, 2018 and 2019.
Delhi Police is now thinking of aligning with Internet Service Providers and Telecommunications Department to check the increasing cases of mobile thefts. This will be done using the device's IMEI i.e. International Mobile Equipment Identity Number.

Question- What is IMEI number?
Answer- IMEI is a unique number. This is the identity certificate of the mobile. It cannot be changed. Whenever you buy a new mobile, check its box and the 15 digit IMEI number written in the device and make a note of it somewhere.

Often people buy mobiles and keep its box on the table or cupboard for a few days, then throw it away.
