Every candidate for the post of President needs 10 delegates to contest the election of State Congress Committee. These delegates propose the name of the candidate.

Digvijay Singh, a Rajya Sabha MP and former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, has been the General Secretary of the All India Congress Committee (AICC).
