He said that the three wings of the Army have done joint studies in individual capacity as well as to discuss the issue of theater command in detail.

Work underway to create 4 new theater commands
At present, there are about 15 lakh strong military forces in the country. To organize and unite these, the need of theater command was felt for a long time. At present, plans are on to build 4 new theater commands. These theater commands will be in addition to the already existing 17 commands of the three military services of the country. The Army will have three theater commands, while the Navy will have one command. At the same time, the responsibility of Air Defense Command will be given to the Indian Air Force.
