Joshimath is slipping two and a half inches annually from its place, houses are collapsing, people are becoming homeless. Because government project. Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced on January 8 – 'At present, all major projects have been stopped.'

And the truth… just 3 km away from Joshimath, drilling is going on at many places to make a road.

ask no one knows anything

The SDM there is saying- 'The project is of BRO, i.e. Border Road Organisation, the road is being built. This is necessary for the country. BRO colonel is saying- 'No project is going on at all. Everything has been stopped.' The construction company working there is saying- 'There has been no order to stop the work. It is a project of BRO, it will continue till 2024.

Between 8th and 11th January on NH-7 going from Joshimath to Delhi, I could see road work being done at three places. The machines were running. Drilling was going on. Not far away, two large Hitachi excavators, ie drills and stone crusher machines, were cutting the mountains.

The mountains are being excavated by machines on National Highway 7. This place is 3 km away from Joshimath. According to the construction company, it is working here to widen the road.

Why and how all this is going on despite the orders of the CM, this spectacle of Joshimath is being probed…

No one told us to stop work: Project manager

On January 9, I saw drilling work going on to widen the road about 3 km from Joshimath. When we talked to the laborer who was working, he said – Our work is to cut the mountains on the side of the road, then by making holes in them, we insert rebars, so that the stones do not fall on the road. Shivbiltek (SS Construction) is doing this work.

At the site office of SS Construction, I met Ashish, the site engineer. He told – This work is going on since May-June. The width of the road is being made 8 meters. When I inquired a little more, I talked to the manager of this project, BL Tamta…

Question: The Chief Minister had asked to stop all the projects of Joshimath, no one told you?

BL Tamta: NTPC was asked to stop the work on the road going to Marwari. Apart from this, there is a hydro project of NTPC, an order has been given to stop its work. We are working on the project of BRO. This is the work of strengthening the road. The project will run till 2024.

Question: The situation in Joshimath is bad, in such a situation, shouldn't this work also be stopped?

BL Tampa: We drill about 6 meters and stop drilling by placing a trap to build a wall. Work has been stopped only in the main market area of Joshimath, we have not received any such order from the government.

Question: Your site is being worked with big machines?

BL Tampa: Yes, they are called excavators. We are working with the help of rock breakers. We are not doing any work in Joshimath city area. Our only work is to strengthen and widen the road.
