Team India announced for home series against New Zealand: Rahul-Akshar rested, Prithvi Shaw returns… Surya gets a chance in Test team

Team India has been announced for the home series against New Zealand and the first two Tests against Australia. The BCCI announced the team late on Friday night.

The Indian team will play a series of 3 ODIs and 3 T20 matches against New Zealand in the end of January. After that, the series of 4 Test matches against Australia will start from 9 February. After the Test series, the team also has to play 3 ODIs against the Kangaroos.




For the second series of the year's ODI World Cup, the Chetan Sharma-led selection committee has rested wicket-keeper batsman KL Rahul and Akshar Patel as both were unavailable for the team due to family reasons.


Ishaan Kishan and KS Bharat have been given a chance in place of Rahul in the ODI team. While Prithvi Shaw has been included in the team in T20. Apart from this, Suryakumar Yadav has been included in the squad for the opening two Tests against Australia.


ODI series from 18 January

The Indian team, led by Rohit Sharma, has to play a 3 ODI series against New Zealand from 18 January. After that both the teams will also play T20 series of 3 matches.

Team India has won the ODI series against Sri Lanka before the home series against the Kiwis. India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the 3-match series. The Indian team won the first match by 4 wickets. Click to read full match report.
