'2017 was the year. There were new marriages. Me and my wife Vidhi, both of us went to Thailand on vacation. Saw there that even adults were wearing colorful socks. We love these socks. In India, we see that colorful socks are available only for children.

After the vacation was over, we bought a lot of socks from Thailand, but when worn, the quality was very poor. For 8 years, while working in a multinational company (MNC) and listening to the scolding of the boss, I got upset. Thought why not start something of our own.




Colorful socks should be made for adults in India too. Quitting my engineering job, I started making socks and selling them. Within 2 years, the annual turnover of our company has reached close to 4 crores.


Jaipur-based Kapil Garg and his wife Vidhi Garg are the co-founders of Thelagaadi, a company that manufactures colorful socks. Kapil is sharing all these things while showing me the boxes of socks. Looking at the design and color of the box and socks, it looks as if it is a bag or a toy of a small child.

Kapil shows me his store, which is full of bundles of colorful socks. The walls of the store are also looking colorful because of the colorful socks. Showing some products, Kapil says, 'When we say that someone may be 55 years old, but his heart always remains like a child.


Colorful socks are not a trend for adults in India. There is no brand as such. In such a situation, the socks that are available are either imported from abroad or their quality is not that good.


That's when we realized that there could be a demand for colorful socks among youngsters in India as well. Colorful socks can attract adults. People pay attention to shirt-pants, boot-suit… these things, always think about the collection of the color of the dress, but socks do not get that much attention.



Kapil Garg has done engineering from Pune, while his wife Vidhi has done a designing course. Kapil says, “How can an engineering person understand about garments. I worked in different software companies for 8 years.


When we started working on the socks business in 2019, Vidhi had some designing knowledge, but I was zero. First the company was started by Vidhi, then after a few months I quit my job and started focusing on the socks business.

One day there was a fight between both of us on this matter, because after a few months our demands were continuously increasing, after which Kapil left the job. Then we started scouring the internet. After studying the socks market of India and abroad, it was found that there is an unorganized socks market in India.
